Frequently Asked

Questions
What is the treatment for AC joint separation?

AC joint can be a painful injury that occurs in multiple grades. The doctor will initially focus on reducing the pain through immobilization of the arm in a sling. The decision to operate or not to operate is then made based on the severity of the problem.

What are the risks of surgery?

The surgeries are usually a walk through the park. But in certain cases, the surgical site might be infected or the pain might continue with less function of the hand. Indicated surgeries have proved to be quite successful until now.

There are six types of acromioclavicular joint injuries available. Depending upon the force applied on each ligament these type occurs.

Is surgery essential?

The majority of grades 1, 2, and 3 injuries can be treated with medicines and immobilization. Higher grades of injury demand surgery. Surgery is also suggested for high-caliber athletes and people who require complete recovery. Certain times the doctor suggests surgery if the collar bone is higher than usual.

Naturally people with AC joint injury will feel good within a week but for severe injury it takes at least 6 weeks of time for the ligaments to heal completely.
