Know More About Fracture
Cause
Fracture is a condition or injury that occurs due to a severe impact on a particular region. Experiencing fracture on the upper humerus is quite common. Fracture is common among people of all ages. Any accident or a fall can cause a fracture.
Diagnosis
Fractures are often diagnosed through X-rays. In some conditions, these fractures are subjected to MRI scans before surgery.
Treatment
For hairline fractures the common treatments are either conservative with arm in sling or percutaneous K wiring. For old age people, the treatment options are on no cooperative lines since they naturally heal with a slight degree of misalignment. But for young people below 40 years of age surgical intervention is the best option for precise correction and efficient movement. The surgical part includes open reduction and internal fixation with the plate and screws. This surgery is often completed within 1 hour and the patients are kept under observation for 1day.
Why Us?
For young patients who do not prefer the cutting option, the alternative treatment offered by the Bang institutes is percutaneous reduction and pinning. This procedure is performed under anesthesia and traction is applied to retrieve the original position of the bones without any surgical intervention. There is no big cut made in this procedure and hence it is minimally invasive.
The fracture is confirmed using x-ray and MRI scans if necessary. We at the Bang institute offer all types of treatment options to our patients. Our doctor suggests the best type of treatment after considering their body condition and age. Our effective treatment options include Surgery, Non-invasive traction and reduction, and Medications and absolute rest for old people with physiotherapy.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Is surgery necessary for fracture?
Not all fractures require surgery. Based upon your x-ray and reduction position the doctor will suggest optimum treatment like surgery or conservative way.
Is there any risk in fracture surgery?
Similar to any other surgery there are basic risk factors like an infection. Other than that fracture surgeries are common and cannot be termed as extremely risky.
Will my shoulder function return after the treatment of fracture
The final functional result is a combined result of surgeons effort with good surgery and patients effort with good physiotherapy.
How long should we keep the sling?
The duration of the sling depends upon the nature of your fracture. The doctors usually suggest a minimum of 2 weeks of rest with the sling. It can extend up to 45 days.
Is physiotherapy necessary after fracture treatment?
Since the entire hand is immobilized in both conservative and surgical treatment it is necessary to regain the range of motion with physiotherapy. If the sling is placed for one or two weeks then Physiotherapy is not required.
Will you plate my shoulder fracture?
The type of operation is decided by age of patient, time since surgery as well as fracture pattern.
